[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] It has been confirmed that Lee (32), who assaulted a woman he had never seen before at Seoul Station and fled but was caught, also provoked other passersby.

On the 4th, SBS reported that the suspect Lee approached a woman waiting at a crosswalk near his home in February, cursed at her, threatened her, and even spat at her.

According to the report, the victim described the situation as follows: "(Lee) blew cigarette smoke directly into my face. Suddenly, he said, 'What are you looking at, you ○○○,' and spat on my face. I was frozen and just stood there, but he spat two more times."

Meanwhile, the Railway Special Judicial Police under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in cooperation with the police, arrested Lee at his home in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, around 7 p.m. on the 2nd.

Lee is accused of assaulting a woman in her 30s by striking her left cheekbone area and fleeing at around 1:50 p.m. on the 26th of last month on the first floor of the Airport Railroad Seoul Station.

This incident sparked public outrage after the victim’s family shared it on social networking services (SNS). A national petition demanding severe punishment for the perpetrator Lee was also posted on the Blue House website on the 2nd.
