Incheon Customs "Overseas Travelers' Taxes Can Also Be Paid via Smartphone Easy Payment"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Incheon Main Customs Office announced on the 4th that it will implement a system allowing inbound travelers to pay various taxes, including customs duties, via smartphone simple payment.

Until now, overseas travelers have paid customs duties and other taxes only through credit cards or bank transfers, but from now on, they can pay by simply touching their smartphones to unmanned payment terminals inside the arrival hall without using a physical card.

Currently, only Samsung Pay is available, but there are plans to expand the system to include other simple payment systems such as KakaoPay and Naver Pay in consultation with the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute.

A customs official stated, "In addition to smartphone simple payments, there are various convenient payment services such as cash, credit cards, combined payments using multiple credit cards, and virtual account transfers. We ask travelers to actively utilize these services."
