[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the United Future Party, urged the ruling party to enter negotiations, stating, "If the ruling party comes to negotiate, we will actively cooperate on the elevation of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and the third supplementary budget (supplementary budget)."

At the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly main building on the 4th, Floor Leader Joo said, "The Democratic Party of Korea is saying they will elect the chairperson on the 5th no matter what, and on the 8th, they are showing a negotiation attitude close to intimidation by claiming they can take all the standing committee chairpersons," expressing his concerns.

He continued, "Although the National Assembly Act stipulates the election on the 5th as a guideline, the Secretariat pressured it as a mandatory rule, forcing agreement to such an interpretation," adding, "(If forced) it would be an outrageous act not seen in over 50 years since the single opening on July 10, 1967."

He emphasized, "If the ruling party wants to take all 18 standing committees, the chairperson elected as the Speaker must commit the outrage of forcibly allocating standing committees even to our party members," and added, "We will watch to see whether they can really proceed that way and whether the public will forgive it."

Floor Leader Joo said, "Looking back at the flow of history, there are decisive moments. If the Democratic Party unilaterally elects the Speaker and selects the standing committees tomorrow without our party's agreement, it will be the first day the Democratic Party is abandoned by the people," urging, "I hope they do not waste this good opportunity for cooperative governance that the public demands."

He stated, "The Democratic Party's unilateral operation of the National Assembly is nothing less than a declaration of hasty, tyrannical dictatorship that ruins the National Assembly, undermines the principle of separation of powers, and divides public opinion," and added, "They should reflect on the arguments they made when they were the opposition and cooperate with the United Future Party to ensure a smooth opening."
