[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Military Mutual Aid Association announced on the 4th that, in celebration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans, it received recommendations from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs for four living Korean War veterans residing in the region who are facing financial difficulties, and delivered consolation money and commemorative gifts to them.
The Military Mutual Aid Association's volunteer consolation activities for national veterans began in June 2013 and have continued for eight years this year. Although employees have visited the homes of national veterans in person every year to carry out volunteer consolation activities, this year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing measures, direct delivery was inevitably omitted.
Kim Do-ho, Chairman of the Military Mutual Aid Association, said, “The reason we are here today is thanks to the noble sacrifices and dedication to the country of our national veterans,” and added, “We must not forget the spirit of patriotism and veterans’ honor so that the contributions and sacrifices of our patriotic ancestors are not in vain.”
