[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] More than 99% of households eligible for the nationwide emergency disaster relief fund due to the COVID-19 pandemic have completed receiving the support. Among the eligible households, 190,000 households have not yet received the fund, with 702 billion KRW remaining, accounting for 4.9% of the total budget.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 4th, over the 31 days from the 4th of last month to the 3rd of this month, 21.52 million households received the emergency disaster relief fund, totaling 13.5428 trillion KRW.
Out of the total 21.71 million eligible households, 99.1% have received the support. Of the total budget of 14.2448 trillion KRW, 95.1% has been disbursed. Approximately 190,000 households have yet to receive the emergency disaster relief fund, with about 702 billion KRW remaining.
As of now, the cumulative number of households applying by payment method shows that 14.6 million households (67.2%) applied via credit or debit card charging, with a disbursed amount of 9.5938 trillion KRW.
Applications via prepaid cards account for 2.51 million households (11.6%) with 1.6336 trillion KRW, and local love gift certificates were applied for by 1.54 million households (7.1%) totaling 1.0143 trillion KRW. Vulnerable groups who received cash first include 2.86 million households (13.2%) with 1.3011 trillion KRW supported.
Applications for the emergency disaster relief fund via credit or debit card charging are accepted through each card company’s website and affiliated bank branches until the 5th. Applications for local love gift certificates and prepaid cards through town, township, and neighborhood community centers will continue to be accepted thereafter.
