SSG.com Launches Up to 40% Discount Event on Fresh Meat Products

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] SSG.com is launching a large-scale discount event featuring fresh meat products such as beef and pork.

SSG.com announced on the 4th that it will hold a special event for one week until the 11th, offering discounts of up to 40% on 85 types of meat products including Korean beef (Hanwoo), Korean pork (Handon), Australian tenderloin, and chicken.

Twenty-eight types of Hanwoo will be sold at discounts of up to 30%. The "representative meat" pork will also be discounted by up to 20%. This includes all 45 items of branded Handon pork belly and neck meat.

The products with the largest discounts during the event are four types of "Australian tenderloin." Beef tenderloin accounts for only 1-2% of the entire beef and is a premium cut commonly used for steaks.

Recently, in Australia, the domestic supply volume has exceeded demand, contrary to the situation in Korea. As the COVID-19 pandemic worsened, many restaurants closed, leading to an overall decline in meat prices. As a result, Australian tenderloin can now be distributed domestically at relatively affordable prices.

In addition, SSG.com is offering an 20% discount on eight types of chicken products including "Harim FRESH-UP" refrigerated chicken drumsticks, chicken tenderloin, and chicken wings. Easy-to-cook home meals such as beef bulgogi, sirloin pork cutlet, and Chuncheon-style seasoned chicken ribs are also discounted by 30%, priced at 8,980 KRW per 600g (one geun).
