[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Pulmuone has introduced a premium refrigerated noodle dish featuring fresh and large whole ingredients.
On the 4th, Pulmuone Foods announced the launch of ‘Big Chunk One Bowl Kal Bibim Noodles (584g/7,200 KRW)’ and ‘Big Chunk One Bowl Kimchi Fried Noodles (473g/7,200 KRW),’ which contain fresh vegetables and kimchi pieces in their original form, allowing consumers to enjoy rich flavors and textures.
The two new ‘Big Chunk One Bowl’ products are characterized by including fresh whole ingredients, enabling consumers to enjoy a proper bowl of noodles without needing to add extra vegetable toppings.
‘Big Chunk One Bowl Kal Bibim Noodles’ is a bibim kalguksu (mixed knife-cut noodles) dish mixed with crunchy vegetables and chewy fresh noodles in a seasoning sauce. To enhance the crisp texture and flavor from fresh ingredients, neatly prepared bean sprouts and julienned carrots are separately packaged and included.
The noodles use ‘hand-pulled fresh noodles’ that are kneaded and aged multiple times with a four-stage rolling roller to maximize softness and chewiness. The dough is finely cut to a thickness suitable for kalguksu, enhancing the chewing experience. The bibim sauce is naturally sweetened with fruits such as apples and pears, adding depth to its sweet and tangy flavor.
Preparation is simple. Boil the noodles in water for 5 minutes and 30 seconds, rinse in cold water, then mix well with the included bibim sauce and vegetable toppings to complete the dish.
‘Big Chunk One Bowl Kimchi Fried Noodles’ features authentic kimchi made from domestically grown napa cabbage, cut into large pieces, delivering a spicy flavor that clings to the palate. The crunchy kimchi is stir-fried in a special sauce made with gochujang (red chili paste), beef bone broth, and fried seasoning, adding a deeper and richer taste. Sprinkling the included sesame seeds and seaweed toppings enhances the nutty flavor.
Using Pulmuone’s hand-pulled noodle-making method, the ‘hand-pulled aged noodles’ maintain chewiness and achieve an optimal thickness and shape for udon texture. The ‘hand-pulled aged noodles’ are used in all Pulmuone udon products.
Cooking takes only 2 minutes. Gently loosen the noodles in a frying pan with cooking oil and stir-fry over medium heat for 1 minute, then add the kimchi pieces and stir-fry for another minute. The included sesame seeds and seaweed toppings can be added according to preference. The short cooking time makes it ideal for a simple meal, snack, or late-night dish.
Jung Jae-hyung, Product Manager of Noodles & Rice Cakes at Pulmuone Foods, said, “Unlike existing fresh noodle products, this new product features the freshness of ingredients and the original texture of whole ingredients. It eliminates the hassle of preparing additional toppings to enhance taste and texture, and is portioned as a single meal, making it popular among consumers who want a simple yet proper meal, snack, or late-night food.”
