A Large-Scale Cultural Facility to Be Built on the Site of the Old Danginri Power Plant

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] A large-scale cultural facility will be established on the site of the Seoul Thermal Power Plant in Dangin-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul (formerly Danginri Power Plant).

On the 4th, Seoul City announced that it held the 8th Urban Planning Committee meeting on the 3rd and approved a revised urban planning facility decision for the cultural facility project 'Dangin-dong Cultural Space Creation Project' requested by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This project involves creating a cultural space on the site of the decommissioned generators 4 and 5, which were removed as the Seoul Combined Thermal Power Plant was moved underground. In this review, the agenda to build electrical supply facilities, waterproofing facilities, and cultural facilities was approved.

A Seoul city official expressed expectations that "this urban planning facility change decision will contribute to preserving industrial heritage and securing large-scale cultural facilities, thereby enhancing the public's cultural and artistic experiences and quality of life."
