"Thanks to You, Korea Has Become Proud" ... Tribute to Patriotic Martyrs

Seoul Library Renovates Kkumsaegimpan for Memorial Day and Month of Patriots and Veterans Affairs

"Thanks to You, Korea Has Become Proud" ... Tribute to Patriotic Martyrs

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] To commemorate the 65th anniversary of Memorial Day and the 'Month of Patriots and Veterans,' the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 4th that it will newly renovate the Dream Reminder Board at the Seoul Library to reflect on the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and the spirit of overcoming national crises together with its citizens.

The Dream Reminder Board, featuring the phrase "Thanks to you, we have become a proud Republic of Korea," was planned to remember the anonymous dedication and sacrifices shown by citizens throughout Korea's modern and contemporary history and to share the meaning and value of these sacrifices with the public today.

In particular, Seoul explained that it was inspired by the recent trending '#ThanksToYou Challenge' to express gratitude and respect for the patriotic martyrs, independence activists, democratic heroes, and industrial workforce who built today's Korea.

This Dream Reminder Board depicts a person holding a single white chrysanthemum flower while making the hand gesture from the #ThanksToYou Challenge, symbolizing the heartfelt spirit of the patriotic martyrs who overcame national crises and encouraging society to wisely overcome the various challenges faced amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Park Jin-young, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, "Just as the dedication of medical staff made the successful containment of COVID-19 possible, today's proud Republic of Korea was achieved through the dedication and sacrifice of our citizens who lived through adversity and hardship in modern and contemporary history," adding, "I hope this serves as an opportunity to reflect on our gratitude and respect for the patriotic martyrs and national heroes."
