Seoul Arts Center Children's Family Festival Opens on the 16th of Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The 'Children and Family Festival,' presented every summer by the Seoul Arts Center, will open on the 16th of next month.

The Children and Family Festival is a program that carefully selects domestic and international performances for children and families to be showcased at the Seoul Arts Center. This year, three performances suitable for children aged 36 months and older, as well as adults, will be presented at the Seoul Arts Center Jayu Small Theater.

The plays include "Gangajittong (Dog Poop)" by the theater company Mosineun Saramdeul (July 16?29), "Esme's Summer" by the theater company Changjak Kkumteo Nori Gongjang (August 1?16), and the non-verbal performance "Ne Ne Ne" by Cultural Workshop Sangsangmaru + ZebraDans (August 19?23).

"Gangajittong" is a stage adaptation of a fairy tale by Korea's representative children's author Kwon Jeong-saeng. Mosineun Saramdeul has been performing "Gangajittong" for 20 years this year. The story depicts the journey of a seemingly useless piece of dog poop that blossoms into a beautiful dandelion flower, conveying the process of discovering one's own value and appreciating the preciousness of life.

"Esme's Summer" delicately portrays the emotional changes Esme experiences as she spends a week with her grandfather, coming to accept the absence of her grandmother.

"Ne Ne Ne" is a non-verbal performance co-produced by Cultural Workshop Sangsangmaru and Sweden's ZebraDans, supported by the Korea Arts Council to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Sweden. Based on intuition and imagination, it explores the relationship between shapes and sounds around us through dance, mime, and theatrical play, allowing children to directly and indirectly experience various forms of physical expression.
