[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Gangnam-gu, Seoul announced on the 3rd that 52 contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 working at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Nonhyeon Branch in the district were identified and all were instructed to quarantine.
After it was revealed that an insurance planner tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day, the 10 floors of the Yeoksam Building (114 Teheran-ro) near Gangnam Station, where the branch is located, were closed.
The confirmed insurance planner is a man in his 60s residing in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
He underwent testing on the 1st due to symptoms such as fever and received a positive result on the night of the 2nd.
A Gangnam-gu official stated, "As a result of the epidemiological investigation, we confirmed that there were no additional contacts beyond the 52 identified, including 49 employees of the branch and 3 acquaintances met within the same building."
He added, "Disinfection was carried out in the building, which will be voluntarily closed for five days until the 7th, and the 52 contacts have been placed under self-quarantine."
Gangnam-gu explained that although about 600 employees from three tax offices?Yeoksam, Samsung, and Seocho?work in the building, they use separate elevators, so there is no concern about cross-infection.
