At the signing ceremony, Chairman Song Seontae of the 5·18 Investigation Commission, Vice Chairman Ahn Jongcheol, Standing Commissioner Lee Jonghyeop, Director Lee Hwayoung of the Institute of Human Rights Medicine, and Secretary General Park Eunseong attended.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ mutual cooperation for the investigation of the truth of the 5·18 Democratic Movement ▲ psychological support activities for victims of state violence, etc. ▲ other projects recognized as necessary.
The Institute of Human Rights Medicine, established in 2009, is a corporation that supports human rights victims in pain and creates a healthy society. On May 26, it conducted job training for investigators of the commission on cases of sexual violence victims and healing methods.
Chairman Song Seontae said, “Through this agreement, we will do our best to reveal the truth of serious human rights violations caused by state violence during the 5·18 Democratic Movement, heal the pain of victims of state violence, and move forward together on the path of reconciliation.”
