TWICE MV Plagiarism Controversy, JYP "We Will Strive to Resolve It Amicably"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Girl group TWICE's new song 'MORE & MORE' music video has been embroiled in plagiarism controversy, and their agency JYP Entertainment has issued a statement.

On the 3rd, JYP Entertainment released an official statement saying, "We became aware this morning that one set appearing in the music video is similar to a specific existing work," and added, "We have requested the music video production company to communicate with the original creator of the existing work to resolve this issue amicably."

They continued, "As a company that releases artists' works, we plan to enhance our verification system to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future."

TWICE released their 9th mini-album's new song 'MORE & MORE' on the 1st. Afterward, claims arose that some sculptures appearing in the released music video resemble works by sculptor Davis McCarty, sparking plagiarism controversy.

Davis McCarty wrote on his Facebook on the 2nd, "K-pop group TWICE filmed a music video with a set similar to my sculpture," and stated, "'MORE & MORE' music video has already surpassed 15 million views. This is a blatant copyright infringement on art."

Meanwhile, TWICE's 'MORE & MORE' has been gaining popularity, ranking first on real-time charts across various music sites such as Melon, Genie Music, Bugs, and Soribada since its release.
