Payment moved up by one week from the original schedule of the 15th
Considering preference for gift certificates... Prepaid cards on the 15th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 3rd that to maximize the local economic stimulus effect of the emergency disaster relief fund, gift certificates will be distributed from the 8th, one week earlier than planned, and prepaid cards will be distributed from the 15th.
Initially, considering the procurement of large-scale gift certificates and the confusion at the counter due to the payment of emergency living expenses by Gyeongbuk Province, the distribution of gift certificates was scheduled to start from the 15th. However, Pohang City explained that they decided to take emergency measures to actively respond to the depressed local economy caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The gift certificates distributed from the 8th will be given out according to a 5-day rotation system, just like the application process, to avoid congestion among citizens. Notification text messages will be sent to recipients 1 to 2 days before the collection date. Gift certificates can be collected by the head of the household, household members within the same family, spouses, and direct lineal ascendants and descendants.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang said, "In our region, the preference for Pohang Sarang gift certificates among the emergency disaster relief fund payment methods is very high due to securing many affiliated stores within the region," adding, "We hope that the prompt distribution of gift certificates will serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy."
Meanwhile, the current application rate for the emergency disaster relief fund in Pohang City is about 97%. The application rate for Pohang Sarang gift certificates is approximately 28.5%, which is much higher than other local governments.
