[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The National Pension Service announced on the 3rd that it will additionally recruit candidates for the chairman position until the 12th. Candidates were recruited for two weeks last month, but it was decided to recruit more candidates.
According to the Pension Service, the Executive Recommendation Committee, formed to select the chairman, decided at a meeting on the same day to expand the candidate pool considering the social and economic importance of the National Pension. Those who wish to apply for the chairman position can submit their application form, self-introduction letter, and job performance plan either in person or by registered mail.
Although there have been cases where candidates for the chairman were re-recruited during the selection process, this is the first time candidates have been additionally recruited before the screening. After the recruitment ends, the Executive Recommendation Committee will narrow down the candidates to 3 to 5 times the number through document and interview screening and recommend them to the Minister of Health and Welfare. Then, the minister nominates one candidate to the president for appointment, and the president makes the final appointment. If no qualified candidate emerges during the screening, a re-recruitment will take place.
