Provision of Shade Tents and Hand Sanitizers for Frequent Summer Use... Weekly Regular Disinfection Scheduled

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seokgwan-dong Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group in Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted disinfection of shade shelters and their surroundings within Seokgwan-dong on May 29th to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). About 10 members of the autonomous disaster prevention group carried out the disinfection and installed hand sanitizers with the support of the community center.

Since an unspecified number of pedestrians use and pass by the shade shelters near crosswalks and other walking areas, the disaster prevention group judged that regular disinfection measures were necessary. Kim Young-gap, head of the Seokgwan-dong Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, stated, “The disaster prevention group will continue to regularly disinfect and manage the shade shelters and create a safe neighborhood through autonomous disinfection activities in multi-use facilities frequently used by residents and vulnerable areas.”

The Seokgwan-dong Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group has been participating in joint disinfection activities organized by the Seokgwan-dong Community Center since February, when COVID-19 began to spread.

Additionally, members gather every Thursday to conduct autonomous disinfection activities. They actively carry out various disaster prevention activities and take the lead in restoration efforts when disasters occur, striving to make Seokgwan-dong a safe and pleasant place to live.
