[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 3rd that it will recruit 61 participants for the second half of 2020 'Youth Pre-Job Support Project' to strengthen the employment capabilities of job-seeking youth.
The recruitment fields for the second half, following 71 participants in the first half of this year, are ▲51 in the public sector ▲10 in the non-profit private sector, totaling 61. Eligible institutions include 11 public (investment and foundation) organizations such as Daegu Urban Corporation and Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation, as well as 10 non-profit private organizations.
The selected youth will work 40 hours per week from July to November and receive a monthly wage of about 1.8 million KRW. Eligible participants are unemployed youth aged 18 to 34 residing in Daegu. University students can participate only if they are on leave of absence or have deferred graduation.
During the work period, participants will strengthen their employment capabilities by attending job training and workshops, and receive job-seeking support through various programs such as certification acquisition support, interview coaching, and participation in job fairs. Applicants for the public sector must submit online through the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry website by the 26th, and those for the non-profit private sector must submit online to the Daegu Citizen Center by the 21st.
Daegu City's 'Youth Pre-Job Support Project,' implemented since 2018, is popular among youth preparing for employment and shows high competition rates every year. The application competition rate for the first half of this year averaged 3.5 to 1, with some institutions seeing up to 34 applicants for 5 positions, reaching a maximum competition rate of 6.8 to 1.
An Jung-gon, Director of the Daegu City Job Investment Bureau, said, "Due to COVID-19, our local economic situation is not good, and we understand that the difficulties of youth preparing for employment are significant," adding, "We will continue to actively discover and implement job policies that provide practical help to job-seeking youth."
