Wando-gun: "The COVID-19 Prevention Success Was Achieved by the Residents"

Awarding Certificates of Commendation to 13 Organizations and Social Groups at the June Regular Assembly to Encourage Their Efforts

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that during the June regular assembly held on the 2nd, commendation certificates were awarded to 13 institutional and social organizations that actively participated in COVID-19 prevention activities, and time was taken to encourage their efforts.

The regular assembly, held for the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Korea, was attended by a minimal number of people, while departments and each eup and myeon watched via video.

In particular, personal quarantine rules such as maintaining a distance of more than 1 meter from others and wearing masks were strictly observed.

First, commendation certificates were awarded to 13 institutional and social organizations, including the Wando County Women's Association, Wando County Youth Association, and JCI Wando Youth Chamber, who postponed their livelihoods to work at the fever screening stations operated to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, said, “I deeply thank the institutional and social organizations that have worked together in COVID-19 prevention activities and the residents who have practiced strict social distancing. Fortunately, no confirmed COVID-19 cases have occurred in Wando County so far, but as the spread of community infection continues, we cannot let our guard down and ask everyone to comply with social distancing in daily life.”

He added, “We must prepare for the changed daily life in the post-COVID-19 era, so we will accelerate the promotion of the marine healing industry and steadily carry out various pending projects of Wando County, including the successful hosting of the 2021 Wando International Seaweed Expo.”

Following this, awards were presented to the praised public official and the best team of the month.

The praised public official was Nam Ki-chan, a staff member of the Water and Sewage Business Office, who quickly identified and resolved a water supply failure at an apartment in Wando-eup early in the morning.

The best team of the month was the Regional Development and Urban Regeneration team, which demonstrated teamwork through the selection of public projects such as the urban regeneration project.

Additionally, employees who achieved good results in various public projects and external evaluations despite the crisis caused by COVID-19 were encouraged, and selected books of the month were presented.
