"Formal Freedom Does Not Help... Implementation of 'Substantial Freedom' Is Important"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the United Future Party, stated on the 3rd that "basic income is not that simple" regarding the introduction of basic income.
Chairman Kim met with reporters after a study meeting for first-term lawmakers held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building and said, "Even if there is consensus, implementation is not easy in a situation where securing funding is difficult."
Regarding criticism within the party during his opening remarks, Chairman Kim said, "You all still talk a lot. Some say that Kim Jong-in, as the emergency committee chairman, is trying to erase the word 'conservative,' but I do not like the word 'conservative' itself," and added, "What I aim for after coming to the United Future Party is nothing different. The most important thing is how we realize practical freedom."
Chairman Kim said, "What kind of party is a conservative party? Traditionally, in any country in the world, the most important value is freedom," and added, "The value of freedom that conservatism pursues must be defended to the end, but formal freedom that is only spoken about does not help at all."
