Year-Round Operation of Reward System for Reporting Illegal Acts Such as Fire Safety Violations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station (Chief Yang Younggyu) announced on the 3rd that it will operate a year-round reward system for reporting illegal acts related to fire facilities.
The reporting reward system is being promoted to enhance the safety management awareness of building stakeholders and to raise public interest in illegal acts such as the closure of fire facilities.
The reporting targets include six categories: cultural and assembly facilities, sales facilities, transportation facilities, lodging facilities, entertainment facilities, and complex buildings. Reports can be made if illegal acts such as ▲causing fire facilities to malfunction or not operate ▲closing or blocking fire facilities ▲obstructing evacuation facilities, closing or damaging them are discovered.
Reports can be submitted by taking photos of the violations and uploading them to the fire station’s website, or through various methods such as mail, fax, or direct visit.
Citizens who report illegal acts will receive a reward of 50,000 KRW for the first confirmed violation after on-site verification of the report, and if the same person reports more than twice, reward items worth 50,000 KRW will be provided.
Violators of illegal acts will be fined up to 3 million KRW.
A Dongbu Fire Station official said, “We hope citizens actively participate in reporting illegal acts related to fire facilities to make Gwangju a safer city.”
