Conducted as part of various customized training based on the 'Eunpyeong-gu Human Rights Ordinance'... Manager training to eradicate harassment and power abuse against youth job project participants
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will conduct labor rights education on the 4th and 5th for representatives and managers participating in the youth new job creation project and the Seoul-type New Deal job project.
The Eunpyeong-gu Human Rights Center conducts human rights education every year based on the 'Eunpyeong-gu Human Rights Ordinance' to foster understanding and sensitivity about human rights among facility workers, residents, and public officials in the region.
In particular, the labor rights education to be conducted this time is aimed at representatives participating in youth job projects such as social cooperatives, private consignment organizations, and non-profit organizations, with about 15 people per session, as it has been judged that problems such as workplace harassment by some managers, lack of sensitivity to labor rights, and insufficient understanding of the Labor Standards Act have occurred. Youth job workers consult the Eunpyeong-gu Human Rights Center about difficulties such as work-related grievances and conflicts experienced at the workplace.
Additionally, the education will focus on cases that have been reported to the Eunpyeong-gu Human Rights Center so far, covering prevention and response to workplace harassment, understanding of labor rights, and rights and obligations under the Labor Standards Act.
At the education site, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), safety measures will be strictly observed, including maintaining a distance of more than 2 meters between trainees according to social distancing guidelines, checking for fever symptoms, mandatory mask-wearing, and use of hand sanitizer to ensure safe education.
A district official stated, "We expect this education to improve the labor rights sensitivity of managers of institutions participating in youth job projects and help participating institutions create human rights-friendly organizations," adding, "In the future, Eunpyeong-gu plans to expand educational opportunities so that more residents can receive human rights education by varying the detailed topics and content of human rights education."
