[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The U.S. Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour will hold five tournaments without spectators after resuming the 2020 season.

On the 3rd (Korean time), the PGA Tour announced on its website that "a newly established tournament will be held without spectators from July 9 for four days at Muirfield Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio." Originally, the John Deere Classic was scheduled to take place during this period at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, but it was canceled due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Instead, a new tournament sponsored by Workday, a U.S. financial management software company, will be held.

The PGA Tour, which suspended its schedule from mid-March due to COVID-19, will resume the season with the Charles Schwab Challenge starting on the 11th. The original plan was to hold four tournaments without spectators, including the RBC Heritage, Travelers Championship, and Rocket Mortgage Classic, but with this new tournament, the total number of spectator-free events has increased to five. Whether spectators will be allowed at the Memorial Tournament starting on July 16 has not yet been decided.
