[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon mentioned the controversy surrounding the Justice Memory Solidarity (Jeonguiyeondae) and Yoon Mi-hyang, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (former director of Jeonguiyeondae), on the 3rd, emphasizing, "If you want to save the movement, you must demand even stricter prosecution investigations."
On that day, Jin posted on his Facebook, saying, "If there is truly no guilt, a strict prosecution investigation will rather restore the honor of Jeonguiyeondae and Yoon Mi-hyang herself."
He added, "I believe this is the correct way to handle the issue."
Previously, on the 29th of last month, Jin had called for Yoon's (then Yoon the elected) resignation through Facebook.
He pointed out, "It would have been better to clarify not through a press conference but through a prosecution investigation," and "It was Yoon Mi-hyang herself who created all those suspicions due to the organization's opaque management, and it was also Yoon Mi-hyang herself who caused distrust even among the grandmothers, symbolic figures of the movement."
He continued, "I hope you clearly explain the 'loose parts in accounting' from your personal account with concrete evidence at the prosecution," and added, "I wish for the allegations raised to be thoroughly cleared for the honor of this movement."
He further stated, "We ask whether it is appropriate to entrust a 'public office' to a person whose distinction between public and private affairs is unclear, such as raising funds through a personal account, giving work to her husband's company, providing jobs to her father, and purchasing buildings through private routes," and "Moreover, we hold Yoon Mi-hyang responsible for degrading the comfort women grandmothers from being the 'subjects' of the movement to mere 'objects'."
In conclusion, he emphasized, "What Yoon Mi-hyang, the elected member, must do now is not to defend herself with an empty press conference," and "She must step down from the position that should never be hers and sincerely cooperate with the prosecution investigation to answer the numerous allegations raised so far."
