Gangbuk-gu, Recruiting College Student Part-Time Workers for Summer Vacation

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) is recruiting students to participate in the '2020 Summer Vacation University Student Part-time Job' from the 8th to the 17th.

The university student part-time job is a resident participation program operated every summer and winter vacation. It is especially designed to provide students with opportunities to participate in district administration tasks, broadening their understanding of the public service sector while helping them gain social work experience.

Applicants must be enrolled or on leave as of June 8 and registered residents of Gangbuk-gu. Graduate students, expelled students, and those who worked part-time during the 2019 winter and summer vacations or the 2020 winter vacation are excluded. Applications can be submitted through the Gangbuk-gu website (‘Resident Participation’ → ‘District Administration Participation’ → ‘University Student Part-time Job Application’).

A total of 70 students will be recruited. Among them, 14 will be separately selected, including those who are recipients of livelihood or medical benefits under the ‘National Basic Livelihood Security Act’ or their children, recipients of the next-lowest income bracket or their children, and North Korean defectors.

On June 19 at 3 p.m., part-time workers will be selected through a public computerized lottery held at the 4th-floor computer training room of the district office. The lottery results will be posted on the Gangbuk-gu website at 6 p.m. the same day. Selected students must visit the 5th floor of the district office’s Autonomous Administration Division between June 22 and 26 to submit required documents via email or fax.

Afterward, students will work from July 6 to August 2, Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., receiving a daily wage of 50,950 KRW, including lunch expenses.

Job duties include data organization, office assistance, and fieldwork support. The district office will assign students to various departments, community service centers, and health centers considering their preferences, majors, qualifications, and department characteristics.
