[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police have requested arrest warrants for members of the Seoul National University Progressive Union (Seoul National University Jin-yeon) who held a picket protest at the campaign site of Oh Se-hoon, the United Future Party candidate running in Seoul Gwangjin District in the April 15 general election.
On the 2nd, the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station announced that it had requested arrest warrants for three members of Seoul National University Jin-yeon on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
They are accused of staging protests at campaign sites such as in front of Oh’s campaign office and subway stations last April.
They protested holding pickets with phrases such as "Politicians cannot make donations," criticizing Oh for giving 1.2 million won in total, between 50,000 and 100,000 won each, to five people including security guards and cleaners in the apartment where he resides during last year's and this year's Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating Seoul National University Jin-yeon members who held protests at campaign sites of other United Future Party candidates such as Na Kyung-won (Dongjak District) and Hwang Kyo-ahn (Jongno District).
