[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Council appears to be experiencing ongoing discord among its members ahead of the upcoming election for the 11th term second half chairman on the 30th.
Seemingly aware of this, three candidates from the Democratic Party of Korea have gathered in one place to take the lead in fostering a clean and fair election atmosphere.
They are reported to have agreed to cooperate in eradicating unfair election practices such as slander, black propaganda, and bribery, while presenting productive policy alternatives.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, three council members?Kim Han-jong, Kim Ki-tae, and Lee Cheol?met at the council under the chairmanship of Chairman Lee Yong-jae and announced that they had adopted a joint declaration to practice fair elections ahead of the second half internal chairman election.
The candidates stated, “There is great public interest in the internal primary election held ahead of the 11th term second half chairman election. We solemnly pledge to lead the development of local autonomy and democracy by ensuring that the Democratic Party’s internal primary is conducted fairly and cleanly.”
The candidates further pledged, “We will eradicate election strategies that promote regional division and conflict, and respond to the support given to the Democratic Party by discovering fresh and feasible pledges.”
