From This Month, Personal Information of Manager Hospital Defaulters to Be Disclosed ▲National Health Insurance Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 2nd that starting from the 4th, it will implement the disclosure of personal information of delinquent payers of illegally established medical institutions, so-called "Samujang Hospitals," in accordance with the revision of the National Health Insurance Act.

Illegally established medical institutions are medical facilities opened and operated by individuals who are not authorized to establish medical institutions but employ medical personnel or illegally obtain approval under a corporation's name.

The disclosure targets are medical institutions (medical personnel) and founders (Samujang) who have overdue collections of unfair profits related to Samujang Hospitals exceeding 100 million KRW and have been delinquent for more than one year.

The personal information to be disclosed includes the delinquent payer's name, business name (including corporate name), age, address, type of delinquent amount, payment deadline, amount, reason for delinquency, and the corporation's representative, among others.

However, if criminal lawsuits, administrative lawsuits, etc., related to the delinquent amount are ongoing, or if partial payment of the delinquent amount is made and recognized as a valid reason, the subject may be excluded from disclosure.

As Samujang Hospitals continue to increase, the current overdue amount of related unfair profits has exceeded 3 trillion KRW. A National Health Insurance Service official explained, "Although the scale of detection of Samujang Hospitals increases every year, recovering unfair profits is very difficult due to the concealment of assets by illegal operators (Samujang) before establishment."
