[Asia Economy Min Jun-young Intern Reporter] Virgil van Dijk (28, Liverpool), who plays in the English Premier League (EPL), confessed that he wrote a will 8 years ago.

On the 1st, the British media 'Daily Mail' reported that van Dijk, a Dutch national football team player, nearly lost his life to illness 8 years ago.

According to the media, van Dijk was diagnosed with appendicitis, peritonitis, and nephritis and underwent emergency surgery in 2012 when he was twenty years old.

In an interview with the media, van Dijk said, "When I lay in bed and opened my eyes, all I saw were tubes. My body was damaged, and I couldn't do anything."

He continued, "The worst moments were swirling in my mind," and "I was at the crossroads of life and death."

He said, "I prayed to my mother and God. And I wrote some documents, which were a kind of will," explaining, "If I died, part of the money would go to my mother."

He recalled, "Of course, no one wants to talk about death, but I had no choice but to do this. I didn't know if I would die."

However, after a full recovery, he transferred to Celtic FC in the Scottish Premier League.

Afterwards, he played for EPL's Southampton and is currently active at Liverpool.
