[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Two public officials affiliated with Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), prompting health authorities to conduct comprehensive testing of all employees.

Incheon City announced that one employee from Bupyeong-gu Office and one employee from Bugae 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center tested positive for COVID-19 on the 2nd. Accordingly, Bupyeong-gu evacuated all visitors and closed both the district office building and the Bugae 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center.

Health authorities plan to set up a walk-through screening clinic near Bupyeong-gu Office to conduct thorough testing of all staff at the district office and the welfare center.

They are also taking measures to maximize remote work and non-face-to-face civil service processing, while conducting epidemiological investigations to trace the movements and contacts of the confirmed cases.

A Bupyeong-gu official explained, "We locked all the entrances to the office building and prevented employees working on the 6th floor, where the confirmed cases occurred, from moving to lower floors. Other employees are all working inside the building."

Meanwhile, health authorities suspect that the two public officials were infected through a church and a PC bang, respectively.

Public official A (42, female) from Bupyeong-gu Office is believed to have come into contact with a confirmed case during an investigation visit to Seongjin Church in Bupyeong-gu, where a pioneering church meeting had been held the previous day.

Additionally, public official B (27, female) from Bugae 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center was found to be living with a friend who works at a PC bang in Bupyeong 5-dong where a COVID-19 case was confirmed.
