The Sangmu football team’s contract with Sangju City will expire at the end of this year, and they are looking for a new home base. Gimcheon, aiming to become a sports-specialized city, has already effectively entered the competition to attract the Sangmu professional football team, holding a feasibility study result briefing on May 17.
The study estimated that if the Sangmu professional football team is attracted, an economic ripple effect of approximately 146 billion KRW will occur over the next five years, including about 60 billion KRW in production inducement effects and about 24.2 billion KRW in added value inducement effects. Additionally, it was analyzed that about 2,700 direct and indirect jobs would be created.
Gimcheon City plans to announce whether it will attract the Sangmu professional football team as soon as possible by synthesizing citizens' opinions from the public hearing and advice from related experts.
