Full Effort to Enhance Dorimcheon Safety with Existing Barrier Function Upgrade and Installation of 27 Entry-Exit CCTV Cameras
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is strengthening flood prevention measures by installing additional remote-controlled barriers at the access roads to prevent residents from being isolated due to the rise in water levels of Dorimcheon during localized heavy rains in summer.
Dorimcheon is a representative waterfront area that serves as a leisure space frequently visited by residents, equipped with various amenities such as bicycle paths, walking trails, exercise facilities, and plazas, while also functioning as an urban ecological park.
However, Dorimcheon has many access roads, making it difficult to control entry and exit during nighttime or sudden heavy rains, raising concerns about safety accidents.
Accordingly, the district invested approximately 630 million KRW this year (100 million KRW from district funds, 530 million KRW from city funds) to install 17 remote-controlled barriers from Sillim 4 and 5-dong bridges to the Guro Digital Complex Station section by the end of May, following the installation of 10 barriers in 2018 and 16 in 2019.
In addition, voice guidance systems and locking functions were added to the existing 26 remote-controlled barriers to firmly control access for Dorimcheon users during rainy weather. Furthermore, the district also installed and completed 27 additional CCTV cameras for monitoring the access roads, enhancing monitoring of the access points and remote-controlled barriers from the control room to ensure residents' safety. Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “Through the additional installation and functional enhancement of remote-controlled barriers at Dorimcheon, we will thoroughly prevent any safety accidents during emergencies such as water level rises caused by localized heavy rains.”
