Dobong District Residents Learn Informatization Education Online

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) will resume the residents' informatization education, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, through a non-face-to-face online method starting June 3.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the residents' informatization education scheduled to begin in February was suspended for four months, increasing the eagerness of the main education group and information-vulnerable elderly residents to resume classes.

Accordingly, the district will provide continuous IT welfare services to residents by conducting residents' informatization education online until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.

The education period is from June 3 to June 12. Even after real-time classes, repeated learning through educational videos is possible. Real-time questions and answers will also be accepted via YouTube to resolve learners' inquiries.

This online education will be conducted as real-time online broadcasts through the YouTube channel, featuring 10 popular courses from previous informatization education sessions, such as basic smartphone skills and smartphone utilization. The tuition is free.

The education programs include a total of 10 courses: ▲Easily managing my computer ▲Convenient smartphone app usage ▲Basic smartphone skills ▲Using the magical photo editing tool PhotoScape ▲Internet basics ▲Using Excel ▲Understanding PowerPoint concepts, among others.

There is no need to apply separately. You can search for ‘It Media Center’ on YouTube at your preferred class time or refer to the ‘June 2020 Residents' Informatization Education Online Student Recruitment Guide’ in the Notices section under Notifications & Budget on the Dobong-gu website.

More detailed information can also be found on the newly integrated and revamped Dobong Baeum e homepage (Dobong-gu Lifelong Learning Center → Course Information → Residents' Informatization Education → Online Residents' Informatization Education).

The district plans to resume offline classes from July if the COVID-19 situation stabilizes. To prevent COVID-19, the capacity will be reduced to 50% of the seating. However, offline classes will be postponed if COVID-19 spreads again.

Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “I hope that through free online education, informatization education can be easily accessed at home, contributing to the spread of a healthy information culture. We will do our best to provide high-quality education to bridge the information gap for the information-disadvantaged groups.”
