Jeonnam Provincial Council Opens the 342nd 1st Regular Session

Approval of the 2019 Fiscal Year Settlement and Processing of the 2nd Supplementary Budget Proposal for 2020

During this regular session, the council will review the 2019 fiscal year settlement and approval of supplementary expenditures of the provincial government and the provincial office of education, as well as the 2nd supplementary budget for 2020 to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and revitalize the local economy.

The supplementary budget size is 9.1442 trillion won for the provincial government, which is an increase of 813 billion won from the original budget, and 4.148 trillion won for the provincial office of education, which is an increase of 256.4 billion won.

In addition, various agenda items will be handled, including the "Resolution to Establish a Special Committee for Hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties," proposed by Assemblyman Kang Munseong from Yeosu, the "Jeollanam-do Social Welfare Service Quality Management Ordinance," proposed by Vice Chairman Kim Hanjong from Jangseong, and the "Jeollanam-do Agricultural Product Production Cost Reduction Support Ordinance," proposed by Assemblyman Park Jinkwon from Goheung.

The council plans to listen to the proposal explanation of the 2nd supplementary budget from Governor Kim Youngrok and Superintendent Jang Seokwoong on the 2nd, and from the 3rd, actively conduct activities of the standing committees and the special committee on budget and settlement, including the review of the settlement and supplementary budget and ordinances, and finally approve the agenda at the 2nd plenary session on the 17th.

Chairman Lee Yongjae will deliver an opening address reflecting on the achievements of the 11th Jeonnam Provincial Council's first half, such as the electrification of the Gyeongjeon Line, hosting the Korea Electric Power Corporation University, and the nationwide first payment support of farmers' allowances, and express gratitude to fellow council members and the executive branch for their cooperation and dedication to legislative activities.
