[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yongcheol] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is a central base of the Honam militia and a land of loyalty that produced many militia members during the Imjin and Jeongyu Japanese invasions.
The representative militia members of Boseong include Jukcheon Park Gwangjeon, Jeolla Left Province militia leader General Im Gye-yeong, Usan An Bangjun militia leader, Damsali An Gyu-hong militia leader, independence activist Song Jae Seo Jae-pil, and Hongam Na Cheol.
To commemorate this, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, held a Militia Day commemorative event on the 1st at the Hongam Na Cheol Memorial Hall in Beolgyo-eup.
At the event, all attendees including County Governor Kim Cheol-woo wore militia uniforms and laid flowers, reflecting on the spirit and soul of the 777 Boseong militia members who rose up resolutely and sacrificed for the country in times of national crisis.
As a pre-event, the Yeonbaram Theater Troupe performed 'Militia Leader An Gyu-hong,' and the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center Choir gave a performance.
Among the 88 militia relics donated last year, about 30 items were also exhibited to publicly display the activities left by the Boseong militia.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, attendance was minimized to militia descendants and institutional organizations within the district.
Additionally, thorough quarantine measures were implemented throughout the venue, including disinfection, temperature checks, mask wearing and distribution, and hand sanitizer placement.
