[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Medical students at Inha University committed collective cheating during unit assessment exams conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inha University stated on the 1st, "It was confirmed that 41 second-year students cheated on two medical subjects (Musculoskeletal System and Endocrine System) unit assessments held online on March 12, March 22, and April 18."
Additionally, it was found that 50 first-year students cheated on the midterm exam for one subject (Introduction to Basic Medicine) conducted online on April 11.
Inha University explained, "The students formed groups of 2 to 9 people, solving problems together in the same location or sharing answers via phone or social networking services (SNS)."
Students who did not participate in cheating raised the issue with the school, and among 51 second-year medical students, 41 self-reported having cheated on the unit assessments.
Inha University announced that while discussing measures to prevent recurrence, the final exams for the first semester will be conducted in person.
The Inha University College of Medicine also stated that they will hold a disciplinary committee meeting this afternoon to decide on disciplinary actions against the students involved in cheating.
