[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Rep. Lee Hyung-seok (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangju Buk-gu Eul) has opened the meeting room in his office (National Assembly Members' Office Building Room 836) to facilitate smooth work for local government officials from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions visiting the National Assembly on official business.
Rep. Lee named the space for local government officials ‘Mudeung Sarangbang.’ This signifies that officials visiting the National Assembly for regional development can freely visit and use the meeting room without hesitation.
Since many bills and current projects discussed in the 20th National Assembly are being reconsidered from scratch, it is expected that visits by local government officials to the National Assembly will increase with the start of the 21st National Assembly term.
The problem is that there is no suitable waiting space for officials who visit the National Assembly Members' Office Building to explain current projects.
In particular, Gwangju and Jeonnam officials often face restrictions in smoothly explaining projects due to the lack of a separate space to receive or print materials on-site.
To solve these issues, Rep. Lee has opened the meeting room in his National Assembly office as ‘Mudeung Sarangbang’ and installed computers and printers in the meeting room to provide convenience to Gwangju and Jeonnam officials visiting the National Assembly on official business.
Rep. Lee said, “I have long wanted to create a Sarangbang where Gwangju and Jeonnam officials, who work hard for regional development, can conveniently handle their tasks within the National Assembly. The door of Rep. Lee Hyung-seok’s office (Room 836) is always open, and there is no threshold.”
