[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 1st that it received relief supplies for COVID-19 prevention from Lianyungang City, Lianyun District, Jiangsu Province, China, a sister city, on the 27th of last month.
Lianyun District, the capital of Jiangsu Province, has been actively promoting exchange and cooperation projects such as promoting the consumption of agricultural and marine products and participating in international expos since signing a sister city agreement with Wando County in September 2006.
Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando County, expressed his gratitude, saying, "In these difficult times due to COVID-19, masks filled with the hearts of the people of Lianyun District will be a great strength to our residents. I hope that the trust between Lianyun District and Wando County, which has continued until now, will be further strengthened and that both countries can develop more through broad exchange projects in the future."
Meanwhile, the masks sent from Lianyun District, China, will be delivered to the (Foundation) Happiness Welfare Foundation and distributed to low-income households in the area and foreign workers residing in the county.
