Only Hopeful High School Seniors Allowed to Practice Social Distancing Within Manageable Limits

To prepare countermeasures following the occurrence of confirmed COVID-19 cases among 3rd-year high school students in the neighboring Busan area, the Office held an emergency response meeting at 3 p.m. on the 31st. At this meeting, Superintendent Park Jong-hoon ordered that various measures be prepared to ensure that students' safety is guaranteed above all else while in-person classes are ongoing.

First, night self-study sessions are completely banned for 1st and 2nd-year high school students until the end of June. For 3rd-year high school students, sessions will be operated only for those who wish to participate, within the limits of social distancing in daily life. Additionally, all schools will completely ban attendance on holidays. However, students residing in dormitories may be given exceptions for night self-study and holiday attendance if unavoidable.

Superintendent Park emphasized again, "Following confirmed cases at logistics centers in the metropolitan area and then confirmed cases among students in neighboring regions, we have reached an important turning point to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. I hope that in our Gyeongnam region, proactive and aggressive measures will be taken to ensure that not a single student is confirmed positive."
