Gyeongnam Office of Education Launches 'High-Intensity' Reduction of School Work to Support Gradual Return to In-Person Classes

"Teachers, Focus Solely on Classes and Student Safety!"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education announced on the 1st that it will drastically abolish, reduce, and adjust projects so that school teachers can focus solely on in-person classes and student safety according to the phased return to school.

Superintendent Park Jong-hoon instructed at the Monday meeting on the 18th of last month, "According to the phased return to in-person classes, drastically reduce all education office projects except those that are absolutely necessary so that teachers can focus solely on student safety and teaching."

The provincial office of education has been operating a policy project maintenance task force (T/F), gathering and reflecting opinions from school teachers, and holding meetings with officials from the main office and education support offices to prepare maintenance standards. On the 20th, a training session for main office officials was held, and on the 27th, an explanatory meeting for officials from education support offices and affiliated institutions was conducted.

The provincial office of education and education support offices plan to promote 'high-intensity' project maintenance this week, including project abolition, reduction, and timing adjustments, to support schools in focusing solely on student instruction and safety management.

Kim Jeong-hee, Director of School Innovation at the Gyeongnam Office of Education, stated, "According to the phased return to in-person classes, we proactively maintained projects targeting schools to ensure safe educational activities following the 'distancing in daily life' guidelines and to allow teachers to concentrate on teaching," adding, "This is expected to greatly contribute to creating a work environment where schools can focus on student safety and in-person classes."
