LG Velvet All-in on Color... Pink, Red, Blue Launch on the 5th LG Velvet 'Aurora Pink' (Source=LG Uplus Blog)

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Electronics is putting full effort into color marketing by introducing carrier-exclusive colors for its flagship smartphone 'Velvet' as a follow-up. They aim to change the mood by additionally releasing pink, red, and blue colors.

According to the industry on the 1st, LG Electronics will release carrier-exclusive colors for the LG Velvet on the 5th. LG Uplus will launch Aurora Pink, KT will release Aurora Red, and SK Telecom will offer Aurora Blue. This comes about a month after the phone was unveiled on the 7th of last month.

Reflecting consumer demands, LG Electronics decided to remove the 'LG' logo from the lower back on the carrier-exclusive color models. Instead, they will include the product name 'Velvet.' An LG Electronics official explained, "We decided to remove the logo to emphasize the product design and highlight that it is a carrier-exclusive product."

According to the telecommunications industry, sales of the LG Velvet have been reported to be sluggish compared to its predecessor, the V50. The release schedule overlapped with the iPhone SE 2 and Galaxy A51 5G, and to lower the price, some key features that were strengths of LG smartphones were removed, and a mid-range smartphone-level AP was installed. However, due to the relatively high price, it failed to attract consumer response. This is why LG Electronics is quickly introducing follow-up colors to change the atmosphere.

LG Electronics put great effort into the colors of the 'Velvet.' The main color, 'Illusion Sunset,' shows different shades of red, gold, and pink depending on the light and angle. They expressed various colors by engraving an optical pattern on the back with intervals less than 1 micrometer (about 1/100th the thickness of a hair) and stacking hundreds of layers of nano materials in a special film. LG Electronics first launched the Velvet domestically last month and plans to introduce it in some European countries starting this month.
