Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Selects Outstanding Institutions and Companies Supporting Career-Interrupted Women in Employment and Entrepreneurship

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Companies and institutions that supported the employment and entrepreneurship of women with career interruptions will be selected and awarded.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 1st that it will hold the 9th Women New Work Center Excellence Institutions and Meritorious Persons Awards Ceremony on the 2nd at Ferrum Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Among the New Work Centers that received excellent evaluations in last year's operational performance assessment, 19 centers contributed to ▲raising awareness to prevent career interruptions ▲training professional personnel ▲creating and expanding women's jobs ▲increasing women's employment and entrepreneurship rates. Twelve companies selected as excellent institutions were highly evaluated for their contribution to expanding high-quality women-tailored jobs and increasing the hiring of women with career interruptions. Thirty-five excellent cases selected in the contest for outstanding cases supporting the employment of women with career interruptions will also receive ministerial awards.

Minister Lee Jung-ok of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said, "The number of job seekers and employment and entrepreneurship cases at New Work Centers nationwide increased by 11.7% and 2.6%, respectively, compared to the previous year," adding, "We will strive to create a virtuous cycle structure where women can work without career interruptions and women who want to work can gain hope and courage in job seeking and knock on the door of employment."
