[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Eunpyeong District Council (Chairperson Lee Yeon-ok) held a session on the 29th of last month to deliver funds for purchasing ingredients for lunchboxes of love to the World Vision Seoul Northern Regional Headquarters in Yeokchon-dong.
This was in response to discussions about donating emergency disaster relief funds, where council members and staff of Eunpyeong District Council agreed to purchase and deliver necessary items to World Vision, with whom they had volunteered twice last year, and to simultaneously carry out volunteer activities. However, the volunteer activities were canceled due to the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Chairperson Lee Yeon-ok said, “It is meaningful to participate in the ‘Eunpyeong District Beautiful Consumption Campaign,’ which unites fellow council members and secretariat staff to donate and revitalize the local economy,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to look after every corner so that no one around us is left behind.”
The participating council members stated, “Although we regrettably could not carry out volunteer activities due to COVID-19, we will continue volunteering whenever the opportunity arises,” and “We gathered everyone’s hearts to add a small hope to children suffering from food insecurity. We hope to overcome this crisis together by joining forces.”
