[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 1st that it will launch the mobile app ‘U+ Aideulnara,’ an IPTV media platform for infants and children, based on the ‘U+tv Aideulnara’ platform.
‘U+ Aideulnara’ is a seamless service that allows users to access the content and services of LG Uplus’s popular IPTV platform ‘U+tv Aideulnara’ on mobile devices. It supports watchlist synchronization and enables users to continue watching videos viewed on home IPTV on their mobile devices without restrictions on location or time. Child-customized educational services include ▲‘English Level Test’ created by the English specialist company YBM, ▲‘Personalized Book Recommendations’ where AI analyzes the child’s tendencies and experts suggest books, ▲‘Hello Carry Quiz Show,’ where children learn English enjoyably by decorating a village with the popular character Carry, and ▲‘Four Comprehensive Childcare Tests’ used by 1,500 specialized educational institutions.
The app also faithfully reproduces a child-friendly character-centered UX/UI design and eye protection features. The viewing management function, which uses characters to limit viewing time and frequency, helps children develop proper video viewing habits. Additionally, the eye protection mode, certified by the Korean Ophthalmologists Association for the first time in the country, minimizes blue light to protect children’s eyesight.
LG Uplus mobile customers using the ‘Data 69 with No Additional Charges,’ ‘5G Standard,’ or ‘U+tv Premium’ plans or higher can use the service free of charge. Other plan users and customers of other mobile carriers can use the ‘U+ Aideulnara’ app by subscribing to the basic monthly fee (5,500 KRW, VAT included) of ‘U+ Mobile TV.’ ‘U+ Aideulnara’ is initially available on Android OS, with an iOS version scheduled for release in November this year. Wired and wireless linkage functions will be applied sequentially through set-top box upgrades. Moon Hyun-il, head of LG Uplus IPTV product division, said, “We launched the mobile app to help parents who worry about what content to show their children on smartphones outside the home.”
