100 Daegu Youth Participate in 'YES Matching' Work Experience... Daegu City Supports Wages for 5 Months

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Starting from the 1st, 100 young people who were finally selected for the 'YES Matching Project,' which Daegu City is promoting jointly with the Youth Center to resolve youth job mismatches, will begin work experience at 69 companies.

Daegu City supports 90% of the labor costs for five months along with excellent young talent at workplaces participating in this project. During the recruitment period for youth workplaces in February, about 120 companies registered on the Daegu Youth Community Portal Site 'Jeolmpeu' (dgjump), and through interviews conducted over three days from May 13 to 15, 69 workplaces and 100 young people were finally matched.

This year, the youth competition rate was 2.5 to 1, approximately double compared to the previous year due to the employment freeze caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The matched workplaces and youth held a non-face-to-face orientation on May 28 and received necessary job training and education on labor-related laws. The Daegu Youth Center will assist with job adaptation and skill development through job training and consulting for five months.

After the five-month work experience ends on October 31, participants will receive a Youth Social Entry Activity Support Fund (Daegu-type Youth Allowance) of 1.5 million won. Youth workplaces will receive an additional 1.5 million won in employment incentives if they hire youth as regular employees.

Jeon Jae-hong, CEO of Pureundul Soft (IT·Internet, founded in 2017), who participated in this matching project, said, "Our company is a startup that has only been around for a few years, but our sales have doubled every year. We are very grateful for the opportunity to hire talented individuals who can grow together with us."

Kim Young-ae, Director of the Daegu City Citizen Happiness Education Bureau, said, "We hope that the 100 young people selected this time will demonstrate their capabilities at various youth workplaces, regain confidence in employment, and that the youth workplaces will grow together by providing generous support and encouragement to the youth."
