"Watch Netflix When You Join 5G" LG Uplus Strengthens OTT Partnerships

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 1st that it has launched the bundled product 'U+ShinHon Plus,' which offers Netflix viewing rights to newlyweds.

'U+ShinHon Plus' provides Netflix viewing and a monthly 10,000 KRW VOD coupon when engaged couples preparing for marriage or newlyweds within two years of marriage registration combine mobile, internet, and IPTV services.

To receive the benefits of U+ShinHon Plus, one spouse must use a mobile plan of '5G Smart (85,000 KRW/month)' or higher, and use internet service with a maximum transmission speed of 500 Mbps along with U+tv's 'Premium Netflix HD' product. If both spouses use the '5G Smart' plan, the mobile monthly flat rate for one spouse is discounted by half for 24 months by combining the 24-month selective contract discount, LTE rate contract discount, and the Easy Family Bundle discount. According to LG Uplus, this means customers using the same product configuration can receive an additional benefit of 542,000 KRW over 24 months.
