Microtech Recruits Salt Mask Virus Expert... Changes Name to Entutek

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Microtech is changing its company name to N2TECH. It is appointing experts in entertainment and Canadian salt masks as directors.

Microtech announced on the 1st that it will propose an agenda to change its company name to N2TECH at the shareholders' meeting to be held on the 15th.

Seongjin Lee, manager of Ace Factory, Hyuncheol Choi, director of Ace Factory, and Taehun Jung, head of sales and marketing at Entucell, will be appointed as inside directors. For outside directors, Hyojik Choi, assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada, and Jungyoon Kim, CEO of Top Team International, will also be recruited.

They decided to add mask development and research, mask manufacturing and sales, and hygiene product manufacturing and sales as business objectives.

Microtech will officially start the mask business using nanomaterials and salt components. Along with the 150 billion KRW scale mask manufacturing order already received by the nano mask company Entucell, they will also develop separate products.

Professor Hyojik Choi, a candidate for outside director, gained attention in February for developing a "virus-piercing mask." Professor Choi began anti-virus research using salt coating methods in 2015. In 2017, he published research results in international journals such as Nature sister journals and Cell.

The salt-coated mask destroys viruses when droplets carrying viruses contact the mask surface, as salt crystals formed during the evaporation of salt and water destroy the viruses.

A Microtech official said, "We plan to research and develop masks capable of defending against various viruses, including the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)," and added, "As demand for masks is increasing overseas, new business results will come quickly."

He continued, "We will expand large-scale mass production facilities in cooperation with Entucell, which has received mask supply requests from North America, Europe, China, and other regions," and added, "We will promote the excellence of K-quarantine and establish masks as essential primary medical supplies worldwide."

The official emphasized, "Even after the COVID-19 situation ends, we do not know when another new virus may emerge," and said, "We believe it is necessary to always be prepared."
