[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Singer Ryu Ji-kwang opened up about his family history.

On the 30th, JTBC's 'The Most Ordinary Family' aired, featuring Ryu Ji-kwang sharing his daily life with his family.

In the broadcast, Ryu Ji-kwang said, "I have been living in a monthly rental room for 23 years due to my parents' debt guarantee worth hundreds of millions of won."

In response, Ryu Ji-kwang's father revealed, "My wife stood as a guarantor for her brother-in-law. After the IMF crisis hit, our family's financial situation declined. That downturn has never fully recovered."

Ryu Ji-kwang introduced the monthly rental room where he currently lives. He explained, "One room is where my parents live, and the other room serves as both the living room and my room."

That day, Ryu Ji-kwang and his parents went out at night in a car provided by his company. Ryu Ji-kwang expressed his filial piety by saying, "Until now, I have lived as a pedestrian, but since the company provided a car, I think I can spend more time with my parents," adding emotion to the broadcast.

At a sashimi restaurant where he took his parents, Ryu Ji-kwang confessed to them, "From the time I failed 'Phantom Singer' until before appearing on 'Mr. Trot,' I worked part-time at this sashimi restaurant for a year."

His father responded, "I had no idea he worked part-time," but added, "Since his income was not steady, I guess he worked part-time, and it breaks my heart. I'm sorry for not being able to do more," shedding tears.

Ryu Ji-kwang comforted his parents calmly, which saddened the studio. Despite his difficult circumstances, Ryu Ji-kwang's efforts to pursue his dream moved viewers as well.
