Gangnam-gu Operates Car Classes for Beginner Drivers

Theory and Practice on 'Automobile Structure and General Knowledge' and 'Consumable Replacement Methods' from 26th to 29th

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) held the 'Gangnam Automobile Culture Class' for 30 residents from the 26th to the 29th to prevent automobile safety accidents and establish a proper driving culture.

The participants first learned about the types of engine oil, batteries, and general automobile structure and knowledge through theoretical classes at the district office's underground control room. Then, at the Gangnam Automobile Inspection Center, they practiced replacing consumables such as oil and washer fluid, learning how to respond in emergencies.

One participant said, "Through this first half-year culture class, I was able to learn basic automobile knowledge understandable even for beginners and had the opportunity to practice hands-on, which was very beneficial," adding, "I will also participate in the event scheduled for the second half of the year."

Since 2017, the district has been operating the automobile culture class annually in cooperation with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Gangnam Automobile Inspection Center to help drivers inspect and manage their vehicles themselves and develop emergency response skills.

The Gangnam Automobile Culture Class is also scheduled to be held in October and is open to all residents.

Priority is given to female drivers or beginners.
