Seoul Metropolitan Council Democratic Party Leader Kim Yong-seok Holds Meeting with Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology on the 29th to Overcome COVID-19 Crisis for Maternal and Fetal Health Management

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Kim Yong-seok, the representative member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council from the Democratic Party of Korea (Dobong 1), held a meeting on the 29th with Lee Pil-ryang, chairman of the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and members from Seoul to discuss overcoming the COVID-19 crisis for the health management of pregnant women and fetuses.
This meeting was organized to express gratitude to obstetricians who are actively leading efforts to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and address low birth rates, and to promote active exchange and cooperation between the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the future.
They also discussed ▲ the development of a medical system that can jointly assess and manage the health of pregnant women and fetuses ▲ preparation of preventive measures for maternal and newborn health management ▲ infection control, quarantine, and maternal and child health low birth rate policies ▲ and the establishment of leading delivery infrastructure policies.
Attending the meeting were Kim In-je, chairman of the Urban Planning and Management Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council; Lee Pil-ryang, chairman of the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Professor Hong Soon-cheol from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Korea University Anam Hospital; Professor Jogeum Jun from Korea University Guro Hospital; Professor Kim Young-han from Yonsei University Sinchon Severance Hospital; and Research Professor Lee Min-woo from the College of Health Sciences at Korea University, who shared their opinions together.
Representative Kim Yong-seok stated, “It is necessary to establish a joint quarantine response system for the health management of pregnant women and fetuses against COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to strive to prepare women’s health promotion and maternal and child health policies for vulnerable groups so that citizens can give birth with peace of mind.”
