According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on the 30th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan announced the previous day that the number of people on leave in April was 5.97 million, marking an all-time high. Over the past year, the number of people on leave in Japan was around 2 million, but it increased threefold last month.
Among Japan's labor force of about 68 million, 9% were on leave. The number of non-regular workers in April also decreased by 970,000 compared to the same period last year.
